Hüseyin Can Aksoy (Of Counsel) is an associate professor of civil law and a full-time faculty member in the Bilkent University Faculty of Law, where he also acted as the associate dean for five years. He has authored and edited four books, several articles, and chapters in national and international journals, books, and encyclopedias.

As a practicing lawyer, Dr. Aksoy has profound expertise in domestic and international arbitration, underscored by a distinguished track record in navigating complexities especially within contract law, international sales law, construction, intellectual property and post-mergers and acquisitions disputes. Demonstrating eminent proficiency, Dr. Aksoy has assumed pivotal roles, serving as both chairman, co-arbitrator, and advisor across varied contexts.

His professional purview extends beyond Turkish law, encompassing a spectrum of legal systems, notably Swiss law, German law and the UN Convention on International Sales Law (CISG). Dr. Aksoy’s prowess has been instrumental in numerous Ad Hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings, including direct appointments by the Courts of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) as the Chairman of arbitral tribunals. 

Dr. Aksoy is also a leading expert in data protection law. He has provided consultancy services to public institutions, multinational corporations, and technology firms on compliance with data protection laws and AI governance frameworks as well as policy advise to global tech companies. His deep expertise in privacy and regulatory compliance has made him one of the foremost figures in Türkiye in this domain. His academic contributions and practical experience have led to his participation in national and international discussions on data privacy and AI.

In 2017, he was honored with the Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBİP) by the Science Academy of Turkey and the Young Scientist Award (BAGEP) from the Science Academy Association. In 2022, he was bestowed with the Distinguished Teaching Award by Bilkent University, in recognition of his excellence in teaching. Same year, he also received the Ten Outstanding Young Person award from Junior Chamber International (JCI) Turkey.
